SUMMARY:Art of Mindful Tea Blending & Nature Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join Shawn at Greatwoods Zen Community for this special day of mindfulness that invites you to step away from the pace of everyday life and return to a slower\, more attentive rhythm that is guided by breath\, nature and the quiet wisdom of plants. \nWe will begin by gathering in circle with a short meditation to arrive in the body and settle into presence. After brief introductions\, we’ll move into a silent\, mindful walk through nature\, allowing the senses to open and awareness to gently deepen. As we walk\, we practice listening to the wind\, the earth beneath our feet and the subtle ways the natural world communicates. \nReturning from the walk\, we’ll enter a guided sensory meditation with a selection of herbal allies. Through touch\, scent\, and direct experience\, each participant will be invited to intuitively choose the herbs that feel most resonant\, creating a personal tea blend. \nTogether\, we will craft our teas and sit in a simple tea ceremony as the herbs steep. We’ll share about the medicinal and traditional qualities of the plants\, and the long-standing role of herbal tea as both nourishment and gentle medicine. As we sip\, we’ll close in reflection and gratitude for the plant world and the practice of slowing down enough to listen. \nWhat to Expect\n\nShort sitting meditation to arrive and ground\nSilent\, mindful nature walk\nGuided sensory meditation with herbs\nIntuitive tea blending (you’ll create your own blend to enjoy)\nTea ceremony and shared reflection\n\nNo prior experience is needed. SUMMARY:Intro to Herbalism - Immune Health & Elderberry Medicine Making
DESCRIPTION:As the days grow shorter and we begin our journey toward the colder months\, nature invites us to turn inward\, tend to our foundations\, and prepare the body for the season ahead. For generations\, our ancestors turned to the plants growing around them to learn their medicines\, listen to their wisdom\, and work with them to nourish and support the body through each changing season. \nThis gathering is an invitation to begin remembering that relationship. \nJoin me for an intimate five-hour Introduction to Herbalism & Immune Health\, where we will gather in sacred circle to learn about the plants\, deepen our understanding of the immune system\, and make elderberry medicine together. \nNo previous experience with herbalism is needed. Simply bring your curiosity and a desire to know the plants more deeply. \nOur Time Together\nWe will begin as I love to begin all sacred gatherings — in circle. Over herbal tea and light snacks\, we will settle into the space\, introduce ourselves\, and open our time together with intention before beginning our exploration into herbalism. \nWe will then gather in the kitchen and prepare our elderberries\, herbs\, and spices\, learning about the medicine within each plant as we begin our elderberry decoction. \nWhile our medicine slowly simmers\, we will return to circle and spend time exploring: \n\nThe foundations of herbalism and what it means to work in relationship with the plants\nUnderstanding our immune system and the wisdom of the body’s natural defenses\nHerbs traditionally used to nourish and support immune and respiratory health\nDifferent ways plants can be prepared as medicine — tea infusions and decoctions\, tinctures and syrups\nHow we can begin creating a simple seasonal herbal apothecary at home\nWays to work with herbal medicine thoughtfully\, safely\, and intuitively\n\nYou will receive an Immune-Support Herbal Guide to take home so that the plants and teachings we explore together can continue to become part of your own herbal journey. \nCreating Our Elderberry Medicine\nAfter allowing our elderberries and herbs to slowly simmer and release their medicine\, we will gather once again in the kitchen for the final part of our day. Together we will strain and press the herbs\, add our honey\, and bottle the elderberry syrup we have created in community. \nThere is something beautiful about making medicine this way — slowing down\, placing our hands upon the plants\, learning their stories\, and participating in the transformation from herb to medicine. \nEach person will leave with their own 16 oz bottle of freshly made elderberry syrup\, along with the recipe and knowledge to create it again at home. \nWhat Is Included\nAll organic herbs\, local raw honey and medicine-making supplies are provided\, along with herbal tea and light snacks throughout our gathering. \nYou will leave with: \n\n16 oz of handcrafted elderberry syrup\nAn Immune-Support Herbal Guide\nMy elderberry syrup recipe and preparation method\nAn introduction to herbal medicine and immune health\nThe experience of creating plant medicine with your own hands\nA deeper connection with the plants and the wisdom they carry\n\nSacred Exchange\nI believe there should be space at the table for those who genuinely feel called to this work\, while also honoring the plants\, materials\, preparation\, time\, and teachings that make gatherings like this possible. For this reason\, I am offering three levels of sacred exchange. Everyone receives the same experience\, teachings\, medicine\, and materials regardless of the offering chosen. \n🌱 Seed Offering — $77\nA meaningful offering to join in the gathering. \n🌿 Sustaining Offering — $111\nThis is the true sustaining exchange for our five hours together and honors the teachings\, preparation\, herbs\, honey\, materials\, and medicine you will receive. \n✨ Abundance Offering — $144\nFor those who are in a season where giving a little more feels available. Your offering helps nourish this work while creating space for another person to join us through the Seed Offering. \nI invite you to choose the exchange that feels most aligned with where you are in this season. \nRegistration closes on Oct. 22nd so save your space! \nCancellation policy: If for whatever reason you need to cancel\, please do so as soon as you know. Within 7 days of event\, participant may receive a refund (minus PayPal expense). Cancelations within 3 days receive partial refund and 24 hrs there will be no refund.
